IP Address 169.254.x.x
I've recently replaced the old LinkSys router with an Apple Airport Extreme, but the problem continues, except *maybe* not as frequently. My question is: I have tried all of the above including a static address in normal mode but nothing seems to work. I have tried everything; restart my iphone, restart the internet, deleted the network… The wifi works fine on my mac.. But then i came across this article, and i have the same problem as many here, the ip-adress starts with 169.254.xx.xx. navigate here

Any ideas? No one can call you. At the exact same time these new connection issues arose weeks ago, they (Comcast) had a node problem that has now been fixed. I have a very very similar situation, even with the same warning errors you listed, and it started when my provider had "node" problems for a few days.

I do not understand what caused the problem, but a new ethernet card did fix the problem. My Acer computer didn't go online when I started it last week. As for anything special that happened.
When I started reading the thread, I thought it was going to be a winsock issue, but you stated that you already ran winsockfix, so that should have resolved that.

They have sent 3 techs over and all get it to work for maybe 1-2 minutes tops. Thanks for any help you can provide! The only difference I can think of right now is the laptop is running XP Pro and the desktop is running XP Home. Do you think, since her Ethernet card works on my system, it would be of any benefit to swap ethernet cards with one of my desktops?
