So far (touch wood) I haven't had the problem when disconnecting from Windows. When your tractor breaks or your cell phone stops working, they want to be the only people who can fix it. Disconnected the iPod and the songs were all gone. I have the ipod nano the lil square one. navigate here

Ipod Classic Ejects Immediately

The way I got around this was to format first on a mac then did the restore on Windows (message 'this is a Mac-formatted iPod, please restore' or something similar).
